Diastasis Recti – pre-baby tummy in 10 minutes a day!

So, for quite some time I’ve been having problems with something called ‘Diastasis Recti’? Yeah … I know, that’s what I thought … what the hell is it??

Well, you’re in luck as my good friend and physiotherapist friend Beth Muir (EAPP) has put together a video explanation just for us LBX ladies … thank you Beth!

So, here’s the quick text version … it’s basically separation of the transverse abdominis muscles or in plain English is what happens during pregnancy when the muscles in your abdominal area separate to make room for baby to grow.

That’s fine for most women, but for some like me, it means that they stay that way after birth! For the lucky ones, the muscles return to their previous state, no problem.

What this means for me (and maybe you too if you’re reading this), is that I’ve ended up with a ‘mummy pouch’. An overhanging, protruding, swollen looking weak belly area that I couldn’t do anything about no matter what I tried.

I just have to accept it right? WRONG!!

I mistakenly thought that doing hundreds of sit ups and planks every day would fix it … it doesn’t! They’re a complete waste of time and can actually lead to damage … you need to focus on the affected muscles first.

Contrary to my initial thinking, sit ups actually cause diastasis recti to get worse.

The GREAT news is that you CAN do something to fix it ladies … and in only 10 minutes per day!

Watch Beths video in full to get the information you need … but just know that it’s completely fixable.

I really want you to realise that it’s not too late to fix this and that you can get the tummy that you’ve been dreaming of, it just takes a bit of effort. 10 minutes a day in fact 🙂

Good luck and share this blog on social and in the community … add your own thoughts and experiences.
